Abigail Cook Stone always knew she wanted to build a company. She went to Columbia Business School but eventually found that she wasn’t cut out for something involving heavy technical skills. After starting out as an art buyer for Ralph Lauren, she pursued a longtime passion: candle. Today, she’s the owner of the Otherland, a candle making startup whose mission is to transport customers to another world.
Today, Abigail tells all. We talk about her background in art and business, branding, whether business school is worth it, the importance of vision and passion in a company, and how to build a startup. We also get into the importance of living well through the small moments, as well as how to navigate a work-life balance, especially when working remotely. We finish on the cruciality of self-care and authenticity. Join us--we’d love to have you!
“Creating these small moments that you can savor is part of living well.”
“Your most authentic self is your best asset.”
“Build something people love.”
